This Privacy Policy explains how City Games LLC (“City Games,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the City Games mobile application, website (citygames.co), and related services (the “Service”).

City Games is a location-based game. That means location data is core to how the product works — this policy explains exactly how we handle it.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

• Account information: username, email address, and password. Optionally, a display name or profile photo.
• User content: photos and videos you submit to complete challenges.
• Communications: messages you send us, support requests, and survey responses.

Information collected automatically:

• Precise location data: GPS location when you use location-based features such as check-ins and location-verified challenges. Location is collected only while you are actively using the app. You can disable location access in your device settings, but location-based challenges will not work without it.
• Camera access: used for QR code scanning and photo/video challenges. We do not access your camera except when you activate those features.
• Gameplay data: challenges completed, points, badges, rewards earned and redeemed, check-in history, and leaderboard standing.
• Device and usage data: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, identifiers, crash logs, and how you interact with the Service.

Information from third parties: If you sign in through a third-party service (such as Google or Apple), we receive the information that service shares with us, such as your name and email address.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Operate the game: verify check-ins, validate challenge completion, award points and rewards, and display leaderboards
• Deliver rewards and coupons from sponsors when you complete their challenges
• Personalize your experience, such as showing challenges near you
• Communicate with you about your account, rewards, new challenges, and Service updates
• Send marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time
• Maintain fair play, including detecting GPS spoofing, multiple accounts, and other cheating
• Improve, debug, and develop the Service
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

3. How We Share Information

With sponsors: Sponsors receive aggregated and anonymized data about their challenges — such as number of check-ins, completions, and reward redemptions. Sponsors do not receive your name, email, precise location history, or other personal information unless you separately provide it to them (for example, by signing up for a sponsor’s own loyalty program).

With service providers: We share information with vendors that help us operate the Service, such as cloud hosting, analytics, crash reporting, and email delivery providers. They may use the data only to provide services to us.

Publicly within the app: Your username, points, badges, and leaderboard position are visible to other players. Photos or videos you submit may be visible to other players or featured in the app.

For legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of City Games, our users, or the public.

Business transfers: If City Games is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal information.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share precise location data with third parties for their own advertising purposes.

4. Location Data — Plain English

Because this matters most in our product:

• We use your GPS location to verify you are physically at challenge locations and to show you nearby challenges.
• We keep a history of your check-ins as part of your gameplay record.
• Sponsors see check-in counts, not your identity or your movement history.
• You can turn off location access at any time in your device settings. The app will still work for non-location challenges like trivia.

5. Your Choices and Rights

• Access, correction, deletion: You can access and update account information in the app. You can request deletion of your account and personal data by emailing toby@citygames.co or using the in-app deletion option. We will delete your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
• Marketing opt-out: Unsubscribe links are included in marketing emails. You can disable push notifications in your device settings.
• Location and camera: Controlled through your device permission settings at any time.

State privacy rights: Depending on where you live (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws), you may have additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at toby@citygames.co. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.

6. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at toby@citygames.co. Users between 13 and 17 may use the Service only with parental consent, as described in our Terms of Service.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the Service. After account deletion, we delete or anonymize personal information within 30 days, except data we must retain for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or fraud prevention. Aggregated, anonymized data (such as total check-ins at a location) may be retained indefinitely.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you through the Service or by email before they take effect. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version.
